The only things most families need are a peaceful area and fantastic, calm beaches. If that is your case, you should definitely go to Vassilikos, located at the tip of the Vassilikos Peninsula.

In fact, there is no real village, but rather a large number of hotels and houses in the midst of olive groves and rolling hills: the perfect place to relax!

Also, the beaches of Vassilikos are some of the best of all on the island of Zante! Believe it or not, they are not very crowded and the resort as a whole isn’t really developed, which is lovely and relaxing.

The reasons for this place to be so unique are that it is relatively far from the rest of the action and that there aren’t that many activities to try there; if you want to relax in a peaceful place with your loved ones though, this is the way to go!

Located in a calm area, this affordable place offers a large swimming pool and direct access to the beach. The staff is very helpful and caring, so you’d be in good hands. 

Runner up Area Where to Stay in Zante for Families: Argassi

Peacefulness and privacy are what await you in Argassi, a small village on the northern coast of the island of Zante.

Arguably, the best thing about this resort is that despite its overall relaxing atmosphere (which most people like, of course, but it might not be for everyone either, I have to say), it is very close to Zakynthos Town, the bustling capital of the island with tons of activities and areas to visit.

If you decide to stay in Argassi, you will enjoy a peaceful resort with something for everyone in your family: there are restaurants, shops, and bars, as well as a beautiful beach to relax on, all in a peaceful area.

Alternative Choice: Kalamaki

Kalamaki is another perfect choice for a stay with your family on the island of Zante.

This village is a very relaxing and beautiful place. It is situated only 6 km / 3.7 mi away from Zakynthos Town. Because its main advantage is its peaceful atmosphere, it is in fact one of the best areas for couples on the island, and will also be a great choice for families to stay.

In Kalamaki, you will find tons of shops, restaurants, and bars. It is a relatively active city, and you will find anything you need there.

Fun fact: the village isn’t located right by the seaside for a good reason: its beaches are the perfect place for loggerhead sea turtles to lay eggs. Because these critically endangered reptiles are particularly vulnerable to light pollution, the Kalamaki inhabitants stay away from them!

Where to Stay in Kalamaki

Although not right by the sea, Kalamaki is still a good village to stay in, with all of its apartments and hotels for you to pick from. In my opinion, 3 of them clearly stand out though, tell me what you think:

Located next to Crystal Beach, the airport, Vrontonero Beach, and a theme park, this place is particularly well decorated and is overall breathtaking. Its architecture is unique and intriguing, and you will enjoy a jacuzzi if you book a room in this hotel.

💰 Budget Pick: Vanessa Hotel

Located right next to Kalamaki Beach, this place has a verdant, traditional Mediterranean garden and everything is very brightly colored and sparkles with fun and happiness. The outdoor swimming pool is spotless and is pretty rare for a budget option!
